As you progress through your career you will do less and manage more.
This means that you work through and with people. Your performance will depend on how well your team performs overall.
This makes clear, effective communication increasingly important as you move into more senior leadership positions.
For more junior management positions conversations will small groups work well. However, as you become more senior you need to be able to communicate with large groups. This means that you have to move to presenting rather than having conversations.
There are many components to presenting well.
A critical one that many people struggle with is nerves.
Learning the tried and tested methods for managing nerves will improve your presentation skills markedly.
If you are able to relax and enjoy making a presentation your delivery will be slower and calmer. Your audience will pick up on that and respond far better to it.
Handling nerves is one of the most common issues we deal with on this presentation skills training course.
There are lots of ways. Simple ones include:
Presenting is a practical skill and so this is a very practical course.
We believe that for you to develop new skills you need to practice what you are being taught.
Your trainer will lead you through the tried and tested tactics that go into presenting well step-by-step.
You will then practice these tactics and skills. The experience of putting them into practice and performing in front of classmates will ensure that you really make a big step forward with your skills.
Your trainer will also offer you immediate feedback and analysis so that you will improve throughout the day.
Leadership at heart is all about communication.
If you are communicating with a large group then the most effective way to get your message across loud and clear is to present to them. A conversation won’t work.
Experienced leaders are by default experienced presenters who are happy performing in front of large groups of people.
