If you can get others to willingly “come along with you” then it will be far easier to have an impact and achieve your objectives. To do this and make others want to work with you you need to learn to gain their respect and trust and also get them enthusiastic about your project or idea.

This influencing skills course will explain the tools of influencing and help you to develop your own particular individual influencing style.

By the end of this course, you will be able to:

  • Win the trust and respect of others.
  • Navigate company politics and build alliances.
  • Motivate and generate enthusiasm in others – understand what makes them tick.
  • Be assertive and confidently ask others for help and co-operation.
  • Develop a more convincing and impactful personal style and work more effectively in meetings.

There are no requirements for this influencing skills training course. It is aimed at anyone who wants to learn how to be more persuasive. This is usually at work, but the techniques that you learn will be useful in all aspects of your life.

To get the most out of the training course it is very helpful if you can come to the course with examples of the challenges that you face as work that we can work through and discuss as a group.

The Day

Our courses run from 9.30 am to approximately 4.30 pm.

We include everything that you will need for a great day’s training so you don’t need to bring anything with you. This includes:

  • Plenty of tea, coffee and biscuits throughout the day.
  • A tasty, freshly prepared lunch.
  • Comfortable, fully air-conditioned classrooms
  • An A4 copy of the course materials to take home.

We do not have a dress code. Please come wearing whatever you find most comfortable.

  • Understanding what motivates and galvanises people into action.
  • Building and maintaining relationships and a network.
  • Navigating company and team politics.

  • Communicating expectations clearly.
  • Gaining and building trust and respect.
  • Making a valued contribution and building a personal brand.
  • Having confidence in your own ability and knowledge.
  • Listening skills.

This section looks at what you are going to do differently on your return to work. This means that when you will leave us you will have a personal action plan so that you know exactly what you need to do and how to do it.

The Trainer

Barbara has been designing and delivering leadership and management workshops for over 20 years. She is a member of the ILM, the Institute of Coaching and the Chartered Management Institute.

She started her career in marketing management with Proctor & Gamble and Rank Hovis McDougall before moving into training and 1:1 coaching.

Jo has been a professional development coach and trainer for over 20 years, and is a member of the Chartered Institute of Professional Development (CIPD).

She started her career as an engineer before moving to a global pharmaceutical company, where she spent 18 years. While she was there she progressed through a variety of leadership and technical roles across HR, customer service and training.

Our influencing course teaches fundamental influencing skills. These are the essential tools that effective people use day in and day out. These tried and tested tools do not change as people are still people.

The best way to implement these tools in your exact day-to-day work will vary according to the situation.

This is what we work through with you during the Personal Action Plan section of the day. This is time on the course set aside to reflect on and discuss how the principles that you have learned during the day can be implemented in your exact situation. This is how we make sure that everyone leaves us with a clear personalised plan of action.


We limit the number of people in our workshops to 5.

We pride ourselves on ensuring that everyone gets plenty of one-to-one attention and time to ask questions and feel that limiting numbers is the only way to guarantee this to everyone who attends one of our line management courses.
